``He had a good golf game. He was really fun to have out there (on the team). ``It's just tragic and makes no sense whatsoever. He'll be sorely missed.'' Cody, 15, died Tuesday at home while in the backyard with two neighbor boys, said his mother, Kathy Pelikan. He had been playing around with a golf club when he hit a clothesline support pole and the club came apart. The end of the club flew up, striking Cory's neck. He bled to death. ``I never would have dreamed something like that would happen,'' said Pelikan, who lived with Cody and her husband in Three Rivers. Cody had transferred to Schoolcraft from Three Rivers High School about 18 months ago, she said. ``He didn't like school but he liked his friends,'' Pelikan said. ``He could have done very well in school.'' Cody had planned to take automotive repair classes through the high school, enter the National Guard and later join the Army, she said. He had just gotten his driver's license learner's permit and was in the process of getting a car.
